Self Awareness

Self Awareness is a skill that takes time to develop and feel comfortable with. As an athlete who is striving to be the best that you can be, it is important to know and feel comfortable with where you are at now so that you can focus your efforts.

This presentation was the first in a series of 5 Winning Edge Seminars presented by the Alberta Sport Development Centre - Central on mental skills training and performance psychology.

The focus of this presentation was to help athletes evaluate themselves using the target. This is an exercise that allows the athlete to choose which skills are important to them and evaluate themselves for each skill. This visual exercise helps the athlete see where they can improve and to see where they have strengths. This is a great exercise to see where you are at and where you would like to be. In essence this is the starting point for Goal Setting.
